For Zimbabwe's ODIs, Sundar and Deepak Chahar are back; Tripathi is called up.
Deepak Chahar, a pacer, and Washington Sundar, an all-rounder, have been selected for India's ODI team for the forthcoming three-match series in Zimbabwe. Rahul Tripathi, a middle-order batsman, has also made the 15-person shortlist, marking his first ODI call-up ever.

SQUAD: Shikhar Dhawan (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Deepak Chahar.

Many of India's first-choice players, such as regular captain Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja, aren't included in the squad because the tour of Zimbabwe finishes five days before the Asia Cup begins in the United Arab Emirates. Shikhar Dhawan will therefore assume the captaincy once more.

Washington and Deepak both last participated in an ODI for India during the earlier-in-the-year home series against the West Indies. In February 2022, Chahar was injured while on his most recent foreign assignment and has since been receiving treatment at the NCA in Bengaluru. After failing to recover in time, he was forced to miss the IPL 2022 for Chennai Super Kings. On the other side, Sundar missed the home series against South Africa, the Ireland, and the England tours due to a bowling hand injury he sustained during the IPL 2022. However, after joining Lancashire for the County season, he returned to competitive cricket.

Tripathi, who just obtained his first call-up from India for the country's tour of Ireland, is still an uncapped player across all forms but now has a chance to play in the 50-over format.

The first of the three ODIs, which will be contested on August 18, will take place in Harare. The Asia Cup begins on August 27, and the following two ODIs are on August 20 and 22.
