In a one-off ODI, Mark Chapman's century propels New Zealand to a seven-wicket victory over Scotland.
As New Zealand chased down a target of 307 runs in 45.5 overs, Mark Chapman hit 101 not out off 75 balls.
In the lone one-day international played on Sunday, Mark Chapman capped off a great few days in Edinburgh with an unbeaten hundred as New Zealand easily overcame Scotland by seven wickets. The New Zealanders, who were defeated in the finals of the last two 50-over World Cups, again proved to be too strong for their non-Test hosts in the lengthier white-ball format as Chapman followed up his T20-best 83 in a 102-run thumping of the Scots on Friday with 101 not out. As the Black Caps concluded on 307-3 in response to Scotland's 306 all out, the 28-year-old Chapman and Daryl Mitchell (74 not out) shared an unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 175 runs to help them win with 25 balls remaining.
"The platform which the boys up top left us was awesome, it really set up the innings," said Mitchell.
"It was nice to get out in the middle with 'Chappy' and get the job done.
"His knock was awesome. It was nice to see him (Chapman) get an ODI hundred, I'm really stoked for him."
In spite of off-spinner Michael Leask's 2-46, Martin Guptill (47) and opening partner Finn Allen's exact 50 helped New Zealand get off to a strong start in their chase.
Leask played well overall, scoring 85 runs and contributing to a 92-run stand with Matthew Cross (53), which helped Scotland stay in the game after they had fallen to 107-5.
Leask, an all-rounder, faced 55 balls, nine of which were fours and four of which were sixes.
Taking three wickets each for New Zealand were Michael Bracewell and Jacob Duffy.
