Suryakumar Yadav's outstanding batting ensured that India defeated West Indies by seven wickets, giving them a 2-1 series lead after five games. After Rohit was forced to withdraw injured early, SKY and Shreyas Iyer provided India the start they needed to chase down 165 and win. Both contributed to India's platform setup, after which the stand was destroyed. Later, when the pitch slowed, it was left to Pant to begin his late charge and score the go-ahead runs to bring India home.

West Indies took advantage of the fact that India had won the toss and chosen to bowl by sending the Indian bowlers on a leather hunt during the powerplay. As the Windies scored a total of 164/5 in 20 overs, Kyle Mayers was the leading run scorer with 73 important runs off 50 balls with significant support from players like Pooran (22) and Rovman Powell (23). In the second T20I, West Indies defeated India by five wickets to tie the series at one game each. On their current tour to the West Indies, team India suffered their first loss. The team led by Rohit Sharma will now be motivated to win the third T20I in order to take a crucial lead in the five-match series. At Warner Park in St. Kitts, the third T20I is set to take place on Tuesday.

After winning the first game easily by 68 runs, the visitors got the series started to a good start.

However, India's performance with the bat was bad in the second game. In the second T20I, they were bowled out for a meager total of 138. Obed McCoy, a West Indies pacer, recorded his team's best bowling statistics in T20Is by taking six wickets in the contest. With 31 runs, all-arounder Hardik Pandya became India's leading scorer.

During the run chase, West Indies successfully surpassed the goal with four balls remaining. Brandon King, the first hitter, hit a match-winning 52-ball 68.
